Built for regulated and high-throughput laboratory environments, the platform enables secure remote instrument operation, centralized data governance, and real-time operational oversight across sites forming the foundation for compliant automation, performance monitoring, and data-driven process optimization.

How It Works

XM Octopus™ operates as a centralized automation platform, typically deployed in a secure server-based environment. ChemoMetec instruments connect through dedicated instrument controller units (Embedded Controllers), while third-party systems may integrate via supported communication interfaces. Communication is handled through REST API and WebSocket protocols, enabling real-time control and continuous data exchange.

The platform directly manages connected instruments by initiating analyses, monitoring system status, and collecting results.
All data is stored in a centralized, secure database with full audit trail, version control, and electronic signature capabilities. The system is 21 CFR Part 11–ready, supporting role-based access control and controlled user actions.

Remote Instrument Control
XM Octopus™ enables full operation of connected instruments directly from a tablet. Users can start analyses, monitor progress, and obtain results without a wired connection to the instrument.

Fleet Management
Fleet Management provides a centralized Instrument Cockpit dashboard delivering real-time visibility of all connected instruments across sites. The dashboard includes inventory details such as model, serial number, location and status.

Quality Control
Review and approve of results remotely without being physically present at the instrument.

Continuous monitoring of instrument and controller health status with built-in alarm system and diagnostics report generation.
